Diesel Colour Change
NZRC started manufacture of diesel aimed at sulphur “free” diesel (10ppm) production from 1 October 2008 in order to ensure we are compliant at the pump from 1 January 2009.
Typically it takes around three months to transition the terminal and retail site tanks to the new specification, which is why NZRC has started to produce it now.
One difference noted of the new 10ppm sulphur diesel is its slightly darker colour and colour change from water white/pale yellow to light lime green/yellow. The colour change is a result of the higher processing severity employed to achieve sulphur reduction down to 10ppm. Colour itself has no direct relationship with product performance.
The new fuel meets the industry and government specifications for diesel and will perform well in engines.
