Important notice to all CRT Fuel customers

Heavy fines could apply to those who ignore the transportation of diesel rules.

Transportation of diesel (UN3077 and UN3082) in any vessel including tank wagons and ute tanks and any other approved container is required to meet placarding and labelling as set out by the New Zealand Transport Agency under the Land Transport rules.

High flash point diesel (UN3082) is the regular diesel that CRT supplies to all customers or fuel outlets.

Important

  • Placement - DG (dangerous goods) placard triangles coveringmiscellaneous Class 9 must appear both sides and ends. Hazchem emergency information labels and environmental hazardous placards must be displayed on both sides and rear. This relates to all vessels or tank wagons over 450 litres.
  • Size - Placards need to be at least 250mm x 250mm. Hazcheminformation labels must be at least 400mm wide on one side.

Rules differ for tank wagons and vessels of less than 450 litres. Also, you may have signage that exceeds the requirement of the rules. It is important you have a clear understanding of the rules and their requirements.

Enforcement and Fines

The New Zealand Police are enforcing this transportation requirement. Fines are instant and significant.

As an example, there is a $7,500 fine to companies that fail to display dangerous goods placards on tanker wagons or vessels transporting dangerous goods.
