CRT Livestock is fast approaching its first birthday and what a year it has been.

The first 12 months trading have been successful and we now have 14 agents South Island-wide offering a comprehensive livestock service to all our clients. Our team has settled into the job well, and we are receiving favourable feedback from farmers. Highlights during our first year are many. They include our entry into the Charlton Sale yards in Gore and success of our on-farm sales. The steady growth of our team has been paramount in achieving this success.
We are about to start lifestyle auctions at Rangiora in August with the assistance of the Rangiora CRT FarmCentre staff. This is to cater for the needs of lifestyle farmers within the Canterbury region. If well supported t will be held monthly at the Rangiora Showgrounds and will be co-ordinated by CRT Livestock representative Hamish Anderson. For all inquiries about the auction please contact the Rangiora staff on 03 313 2299 or Hamish directly on 027 678 8888.
Another new initiative is the partnership with Blue Sky Meats (NZ) Ltd in securing Bobby Calf contracts for export with a December 2010 delivery. For further information contact your local CRT Livestock representative on 0800 278 583 or see the July 2010 Agline for further details and an application form. CRT Livestock are also offering shareholders a livestock finance facility. This is a competitive finance option which has been developed to aid with livestock trading purchases. For more information on this facility please contact your local CRT Livestock representative.
Thank you to all our clients and shareholders who have supported CRT Livestock during our early stages. We look forward to your continued support in the months ahead and will continue to bring you opportunities to add value to your business.
CRT Livestock general manager David Hardy
CRT Livestock’s first sale at the Charlton Sale Yards at Gore on May 27 proved to be an eventful occasion with flooding causing some interruptions.

The damp weather meant deliveries to the yards were affected and road closures delayed stock movements to their new destinations. But the challenges proved to be just a slight inconvenience with the sale taking place regardless – it’s amazing what can be achieved with team work.
CRT Livestock’s Auctioneer Andy Kelleher remarked the market was generally strong but perhaps a couple of days of sun would have seen more demand for in-lamb ewes which made little premium over fat value. The day went well with quite a number of cattle, ewes and lambs going under the hammer and selling well. CRT Livestock has grown since its establishment late last year, and is now operating weekly sales. It has geographical cover throughout the South Island, with 15 livestock representatives from Nelson to Invercargill.
We welcome your continued support, to create another success story for CRT and our shareholders.
